Eligibility

General: Applicant should be a citizen of India but not a native of Tamil Nadu. A certificate of permanent residence should be furnished

Eligibility for B.E./B.Tech

Minimum qualification: A pass in the HSC (academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage in the relevant subjects or any other equivalent qualification with relevant subjects approved by the higher secondary board of Tamil Nadu

Minimum eligibility marks: Candidates of HSC (Academic) and other equivalent examinations, general category 50% in PCM, SC/ST 35% in PCM put together
When the candidates produce grade certificates, they have to produce the actual marks also otherwise only the minimum marks applicable to the grades in the eligible subjects (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) will be taken into account

Improvement marks: As per the govt of Tamil Nadu G.O. Ms. No. 184 HE (J2) Dept. dt: 09.06.2005 and G.O. (st) No. 143 HE (J2) Dept. dt: 06.05.2008 improvement marks obtained by the candidates from 2006 onwards will not be considered

Qualifying examinations and eligibility

HSC (Academic)/Equivalent: Candidates who have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects; general category candidates should have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate; SC/ ST candidates should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate

Diploma: Candidates who have passed 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by central/state govt; general category candidates should have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together; SC/ST candidates should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together

International Baccalaureate Diploma: Candidates who have passed International Baccalaureate Diploma after 10 years of schooling, with Mathematics as compulsory subject; general category candidates should have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together; SC/ST candidates should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together

Aptitude test: The candidates should have passed (pass mark is 80 out of 200) the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2010 conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi

Mode of selection for B.Arch: The selection of candidates will be on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and also in the NATA 2010 conducted by the Council of Architecture. The candidates should have passed NATA and should submit a copy of the mark sheet along with the application. Those who have not appeared and passed in the NATA are not eligible for B.Arch. degree course

Counseling of candidates: Candidates will be called for counseling in the order of their merit. Based on the merit and communal reservation, allotment of the branch/campus chosen by the candidate will be made. Candidates have to opt for campus and branches that are available at the time of counseling

Candidates have to pay an initial deposit of Rs 5000/- by cash or demand draft in favour of the Director, Admissions, Anna University Chennai payable at Chennai and produce all their original certificates during counseling

If a candidate has deposited all the certificates in an Institution where he/she has already been admitted, a letter from the Head of the Institution should be produced to that effect. In such cases only, Xerox copies of certificates attested only by the Head of the Institution will be accepted for verification. However, the provisional allotment order will be withheld and it will be released only on production of all the original certificates

Eligible candidates who have applied may appear for counseling according to their cut-off mark, two hours before the counseling session on the dates given in the website along with their original certificates for verification, irrespective of receipt of individual communication

Choice once made is final and cannot be changed

The date, time and venue for counseling will be intimated to the candidates, and it will be published in Anna University Chennai website. No change of date/time of counseling is permissible. Authorities are not responsible for any postal delay; or non receipt of intimation for counseling. Candidates who do not attend the counseling have to forego the claim for admission

Due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counseling on the specified date and time, he/she can authorize his/her parent on his/her behalf and the parent’s decision will be binding on the candidate

Once allotted a seat, Rs 5,000/- already paid at the time of counseling will be adjusted towards the tuition fee. If a candidate does not join after allotment and seeks refund, only 80% of the initial deposit amount paid at the time of counseling will be refunded, if original allotment order with acknowledgement for the receipt of payment is surrendered on or before 31.10.2010

Registration number for admission: Application Number generated in the internet form is the registration number for admission 2010; all the enclosures in the application should bear the registration number at the top right hand corner; the registration number should be quoted in all future correspondence

Procedure for registration of application form: The candidates can register only through internet by logging on to www.annauniv.edu/tnea2010. After entering the required information in the application form, press the submit button, then take a printout, affix a photograph and affix the signature at the appropriate spaces provided. The printout application along with the registration fee in the form of a demand draft only should be sent along with all the enclosures by speed/registered post to the address given below

All the demand drafts should be drawn in favour of the Director, admissions, Anna University Chennai payable at Chennai

Registration fee for B.E./B.Tech only Rs 500/-; B.Arch. only Rs 500/-; B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. Rs 1000/-

Payment by any other mode will not be accepted

The last date for registration is 19.06.2010 (5.30 p.m.)

The application with relevant enclosures should reach the Director (admissions), Anna University Chennai on or before 23.06.2010 (5.30 p.m.)

Candidates are advised to post the completed application well in advance so as to reach Anna University Chennai, before the specified date and time. If it is sent by post it is advisable to send by registered post/speed post to ensure proper delivery

Candidates desirous of receiving call letter for counseling by registered post/speed post must affix stamps covering speed post/registered post and must also superscribe on the cover

Allotted candidates will be given the provisional allotment order and receipt for Rs 5000/-. The remaining tuition fee has to be paid in the colleges before the dates specified in the provisional allotment order. If a candidate fails to report for admission on or before the date indicated in the provisional allotment order he/she has to forfeit the seat and cannot claim later

Selection of the college of college and the course is the sole responsibility of the candidate

Under no circumstances the campus or branch allotted will be changed

Some Universities and Self–Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the students on the basis of TANCET for their quota of seats.

Other State candidates can appear for the entrance tests but, admission is subject to the eligibility conditions of the admitting authority / University.

1. MBA: A pass in any Degree with 10 + 2 + 3/4 years pattern or a pass in any Degree with 10 + 3 (Diploma) + 3 years pattern.

2. The candidates have to pay a fee of Rs.300/- (Rs.150/- for SC / ST Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu on production of a copy of Permanent Community Certificate) as entrance test fee for any one of the Programmes either (1) M.B.A. or (2) M.C.A. or (3) M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./ M.Plan.
